Storage cupboards above a stage
The client needed to reach the storage above the stage without tools, and the entire space had to stay accessible, so every door needed to be removable.
Before
The old plastic curtains that used to cover the storage.
The open storage space, with the water lines running straight through it.
How it works
A pair of rails runs along the top and bottom. Each door slides up into the top rail, then down into the bottom one, so it can be taken out and put back easily by hand. For the pipes, it took some serious carpentry magic. The panel around them is the only one that isn't removable.
After
What the crowd sees during a show.
Much better than the old plastic curtains.
The right-hand panel is split so it can be removed around the water line.
The panel design matches the lower wall on a smaller scale, to give the whole look a nice balance.
It's almost impossible to see how this was done. You'll have to go see a show and have a look for yourself.
One of the removable doors, finished and ready to slide into its rails.
Live-edge elm mantel
A live-edge elm mantel over a painted brick fireplace, with the natural edge of the slab left on show.
